Physical DescriptionAn all-white ship model of a brig under full sail. The ship's hull and the base are made of soap and the unfurled sails are made of parchment paper. The model is placed in a glass case with black cardboard trim and back. Inscribed in white on the backer: PRESENTED TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES / FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT / COMMEMORATING THE FIRST FLIGHT OF THE PAN AMERICAN AIRWAY'S YANKEE CLIPPER AZORES TO U.S.A. APRIL 1939.
Historical NoteThis model was presented to President Roosevelt in commemoration of the first flight of the Pan American Airways Yankee Clipper from the Azores to the United States in April 1939.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt on November 27, 1941. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
