Along the bottom of the note are the facsimile signatures of Register of the Treasury John Allison and Treasurer of the United States John C. New.
REVERSE: Text reads: UNITED STATES / Act of March 3D. 1863. Act of June 30TH. 1864. / FIFTY CENTS / THIS NOTE IS EXCHANGEABLE FOR / UNITED STATES NOTES / BY THE ASSISTANT TREASURERS AND /DESIGNATED DEPOSITARIES OF THE / UNITED STATES, IN SUMS NOT LESS THAN / THREE DOLLARS / RECEIVABLE IN PAYMENT / OF ALL / DUES TO THE UNITED STATES LESS THAN / FIVE DOLLARS, EXCEPT CUSTOMS. / Patented July 24, 1866.
