DescriptionA round pinback button, possibly from Franklin Roosevelt's 1936 campaign. The ivory-colored button has three sepia tone oval portraits at center: Franklin Roosevelt (left), Thomas Jefferson (center), and George Earle (right). Sepia text above and below the portraits reads: FORWARD / DEMOCRACY. The manufacturer's information is printed on a paper tag on the reverse of the button.
Label TextFranklin Roosevelt and George Earle, Governor of Pennsylvania, never ran for office simultaneously. This button may indicate Earle's support of FDR's bid for reelection in 1936, or vice versa with FDR supporting Earle in his 1934 or 1938 campaign.
