DescriptionAn unused cover with a multi-colored World War II patriotic cachet designed, copyrighted, and published by Jacques Minkus, New York, NY, 1942. The illustrated cachet depicts a bald eagle using its talons to pull Adolph Hitler off the globe onto which he is clinging. Red text to the left of the globe reads: "NOT SO FAST, ADOLF!"
Label TextThis envelope is one in a group of twenty covers (MO 1982.34.13-32) with World War II patriotic cachets designed and published by Jacques Minkus. A promotor of philately, Jacques Minkus opened stamp counters in various department stores throughout the country. Not only did the counters sell stamps, they also carried cacheted covers and albums designed by Minkus, as well as stamp catalogues published by him.
