DescriptionA framed display of six intact tickets from the 1933, 1937, and 1941 presidential and vice presidential inaugurations. There are two tickets from each inauguration in order to show both sides. The tickets represent the March 4, 1933 and January 20, 1937 inaugurations of Franklin Roosevelt and John Garner, and the January 20, 1941 inauguration of Franklin Roosevelt and Henry Wallace.
The tickets are arranged vertically on a piece of white cardboard and are matted, glazed, and framed in a 1/2" black wood frame with gilt inner trim.
Label TextThis inaugural ticket display was originally presented to President Roosevelt in 1937 by Melvin D. Hildreth, of the Inaugural Committee, Washington, DC, and included only the tickets from the 1933 and 1937 inaugurations. In 1941, Hildreth requested the set back in order to add tickets from the third inauguration, after which the display was reframed and returned to FDR.The tickets are arranged vertically on a piece of white cardboard and are matted, glazed, and framed in a 1/2" black wood frame with gilt inner trim.
A printed message on the 1937 ticket notes that this inauguration was the first ever to be held on January 20.
