DescriptionA white crocheted antimacassar, in the shape of a hexagon, intended to cover the back of an upholstered chair. At the center is a large outlined "V" (for Victory) in blue and white thread. The antimacassar has fringed edges.
The cover is part of an antimacassar set (MO 1942.200.26.1-3).
Label TextThe needlework antimacassar set that this chair cover is a part of was sent to Franklin D. Roosevelt in December 1941 by the maker, Otto G. Oetinger of Gardenville, New York. In his note to FDR that accompanied the set, Oetinger writes, "Suitable for your Victory arm chair. Am a disabled veteran served nine years in your navy."The cover is part of an antimacassar set (MO 1942.200.26.1-3).
