DescriptionA 19th century watercolor gouache painting of Mainz, Germany. It depicts a color scene of the city in the background, including the landmark Mainz Cathedral. In the forefront of the painting, the Rhine River and a shoreline are shown. A pontoon ship bridge crosses the river on the left side, and on the right side of the river are seen a two-masted sailing vessel and a paddle steamer. Figures are seen crossing the bridge, and walking and working along the foreground shoreline. There is no artist's information.
The painting comes with a 3" gilt frame (on display).
