DescriptionA stamp cover commemorating the May 31, 1934 U.S. Navy fleet review in New York by President Franklin D. Roosevelt aboard the USS INDIANAPOLIS. On the left side of the envelope is a cachet featuring a colored photographic image of U.S. Navy ships on water with a sepia tone photographic portrait of FDR inset in the upper right corner.

The envelope is addressed to (handwritten in blue ink): “Franklin Delano Roosevelt / U.S.S. Indianapolis." Adhered in the upper right corner of the envelope is a U.S. 1922 dark blue 5¢ Theodore Roosevelt postage stamp (Scott 557). The envelope is postmarked U.S.S. INDIANAPOLIS, May 31, 1934 with a "REVIEWING / U.S. FLEET" cancellation.

The return address is stamped in black ink on the reverse of the envelope: “B. C. Thomas, / 5 Louisa Place / Weehawken, N. J." Also handwritten on the reverse: "#1 / Teddy Roosevelt Chapter / U.S.C.S. #13 / W.S.C.N.C.C. #2". The phrase, "BOOST OLD IRONSIDES STAMP,” is ink stamped in red at the bottom.
