DescriptionA laminated white lifetime membership card issued by the NAACP to Eleanor Roosevelt. At the top of card, in black and gold, is the Seal of the NAACP with the words "LIFE MEMBER" underneath it. Below the seal is hand calligraphed text in black and gold, and printed text in blue, that reads: Anna Eleanor Roosevelt / National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Printed in the lower right of the card is a New York union bug and the number "352."
Label TextIn May 1945, Eleanor Roosevelt joined the National Board of the NAACP. A member since 1934, she now assumed a prominent role in the nation's largest civil rights organization.
