DescriptionA small, sterling silver baby cup with handle. On the side is an engraved decorative monogram and inscription: FDR / March 18th 1909. The handle, found on the opposite side of the cup, is adorned with a creature's head. The cup is marked on the underside with silver punches for Reed & Barton and: STERLING 88.
Label TextThis baby cup belonged to the first Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr., who died of influenza before his first birthday. The cup is engraved with his birth date — March 18, 1909. The Roosevelts later had another son who was given the name Franklin, Jr. The cup is on display in the FAMILY LIFE exhibit in the Museum’s FOUNDATIONS OF A PUBLIC LIFE gallery.
