Label TextCharles M. Gans of West Indies Mahogany, Inc. in San Juan, Puerto Rico was inspired to design this pair of victory eagle bookends after hearing a speech made by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Gans sent the bookends to FDR in February 1942, and the speech he refers to in the letter that accompanied the bookends may be the "Day of Infamy" speech delivered by FDR on December 8, 1941 following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
