DescriptionA hearth brush for fireplace use. The handle of the brush is made of wrapped split rattan that binds together three bundles of dried grasses (rush); iron wire is part of the structural component under the split rattan. The rattan is dyed red. At the handle's end, the rattan forms a loop.
Label TextThis hearth brush was used in the fireplace in FDR’s Private Study. It is on display in FDR'S PRIVATE STUDY in the Permanent Exhibit.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
