DescriptionA round pinback button. At the center, on a dark blue background, is a white illustration of the Liberty Bell with white text above and below that reads: THIRD / LIBERTY LOAN. The edge of the button is bordered in red. The manufacturer's information is printed on a paper label on the reverse of the button.
Label TextThe Third Liberty Loan Act, enacted on April 5, 1918, allowed the sale of liberty bonds during World War I to provide the U.S. Government with money to fund the war. It was replaced by the Fourth Liberty Loan Act on September 28, 1918. Buttons like this one were worn by Americans on the home front during World War I to show their contribution to the war effort and prompt others to become similarly contribute.Additional Details
