DescriptionAn original black and white cartoon titled at the top, “KICKING THE DOG AROUND.” The cartoon consists of an illustrated story told over six panels. In the first panel a man is seated at a desk labeled “PRES., MAMMOTH FRANKFURTER CO.” and is reading a newspaper. In the upper left corner of the panel is the text of one of the newspaper articles: “SALE OF HOT DOGS TO BE BARRED AT THE NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONVENTION ‘IN THE INTEREST OF DIGNITY.’ (NEWS ITEM).” Panels 2 through 5 show the man reacting to the news item by proceeding to rip up his newspaper, speak angrily on the phone, and pace around his office and out the office door in a fit of rage. In the last panel (panel 6), the man is once again seated at his desk and looking up at the wall by his desk which now has a campaign poster on it that features an image of FDR and the wording “ROOSEVELT / FOR A 3RD, 4TH &5TH TERM.” The artist's signature is in the lower right corner: “DAHL.”
