DescriptionAn original black and white cartoon titled at the top, “HE DIDN’T BELIEVE IN SIGNS.” It depicts a “SUPREME COURT” dump truck emptying a load of coal labeled “GUFFEY COAL ACT” onto a Democratic donkey whose “NEW DEAL” hat has fallen onto the ground. A wooden sign in front of the scene reads, “DANGER / UNCONSTITUTIONAL”. An inscription and the artist's signature are in the lower right corner: “MAY 29 1936 / WITH THANKS FOR THE INTEREST. / HE HOMAN —". At the bottom of the cartoon is a copyright notice: “© 1936 by United Feature Syndicate, Inc.” Written in the margin below the cartoon are various publication notes including the publication date, “WED – MAY 20.”
