DescriptionA two-masted, square-rigged model of the brig, NIAGARA. Made of dark stained wood with metal sheathing for on lower part of hull, the ship has no sails and elaborate rigging with a detailed deck. The ship's name is found on the stern.

A metal, glass, and wood case for the ship is stored separately.
Label TextThe NIAGARA played a pivotal role at the September 10, 1813 Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. When the flagship of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the American commander, was reduced to wreckage, Perry transferred by rowboat to the NIAGARA to continue the battle.
