DescriptionA stamp cover commemorating the United States Navy. On the left side of the envelope is a printed cachet consisting of a round, blue illustration of a bow view of a Navy ship on water below which is a separate image of a buoy floating on water. Red text reads: “UNITED STATES NAVY / The NATION’S LIFE BUOY.”

The envelope is addressed to (handwritten in red and blue ink): “The President of the United States / Mr. Franklin D. Roosevelt / c/o Naval Mail Clerk / U.S.S. Houston.” Adhered in the upper right corner of the envelope are two U.S. stamps: a 1933 yellow green 1¢ Century of Progress Issue – Restoration of Fort Dearborn stamp (Scott 728), and a 1932 carmine rose 2¢ Washington Bicentennial Issue stamp (Scott 707). The envelope is postmarked U.S.S. HOUSTON, July 28, 1934 with a "HONOLULU / T.H." cancellation.

The sender has signed the reverse of the envelope in blue ink: “H. E. Hutnick, M. D.”
