DescriptionAn unused envelope with a thermographic cachet honoring the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Panama Canal Zone on August 15, 1939. The purple cachet features a paragraph on the Panama Canal headed by the text: 25TH ANNIVERSARY / OPENING / THE PANAMA CANAL / FIRST DAY PANAMA CANAL ISSUE. Below the parapgraph is the wording: The World's Greatest Engineering Feat. At the bottom of the cachet is an illustration of the canal with the words "1914 TRIUMPH 1939", on which has been adhered a small black and white photograph of a map of the Isthmus of Panama with the caption below: CROSS ROADS OF THE WORLD.
