DescriptionA German Lederschutzmaske GM17 gas mask used during World War I. The oiled sheepskin mask has a six-point harness, celluloid eye protectors reinforced with metal frames, and a removable and refillable metal filter cannister. The cannister is dated "12 Jan. 18" and a red number located between the mask and the canister reads "86."
Label TextFranklin D. Roosevelt may have acquired this World War I German gas mask during his official European inspection trip as Assistant Secretary of the Navy during the summer of 1918.Additional Details
