BiographyN.C. Wyeth studied art with George L. Noyes and Howard Pyle before embarking on a wildly successful career as an illustrator. He sold his first artwork to "The Saturday Evening Post" at age 21 and eventually produced nearly 4,000 illustrations for magazines and books. Wyeth viewed illustrating as a way to support his work as a landscape painter. He created poster art for the government and the Red Cross during both World Wars. Wyeth died in a car accident in 1945. He is the father of artist Andrew Wyeth and the grandfather of artist Jamie Wyeth.
