It is covered by a plastic film on which the artist has inscribed in the lower right: With deepest gratitude to President F.D. Roosevelt Louise Brann May, 1935.
Label TextThis study is for a mural for the auditorium of the Charles E. Nichols Junior High School in Mount Vernon, New York. The study was submitted to the Civil Works Administration (CWA), which rejected the design. Brann’s subsequent study (see MO 1975.53.2) was accepted.
