DescriptionAn original ink and pencil sketch of military guards at the U.S. Treasury. The drawing depicts a room (presumably in the basement of the Treasury building) with an arched ceiling, block walls, and several large windows. In the foreground two soldiers are asleep on their cots, while gathered in the background are three other soldiers, one of whom is ironing. The artwork sheet is initialed by the artist in the lower right: M.J.
On the reverse of the sheet is a series of rough pencil and ink sketches of soldiers in various positions, along with an ink and pencil notation regarding the image on the front: No. 2 / sleeping quarters.
The sheet is mounted to a window mat on the front of which is adhered a typed descriptive label that reads: GUARD DUTY AT U. S.
