DescriptionA Spanish language poster promoting inter-American solidarity during World War II. The poster features a reproduction of the 1869 oil painting of Abraham Lincoln by artist George Peter Alexander Healy with Lincoln’s name printed in the upper left corner. The image is credited as: “OLEO DE G. P. A. HEALY.”

Printed below the portrait is additional Spanish text that reads: “Retrato de Abraham Lincoln en el comedor oficial de la Casa Blanca, en Wáshington. Entre todos los del Gran Emancipador, que fué el décimosexto Presidente de los Estados Unidos, éste era el favorito de su hijo Robert Todd Lincoln."

Label TextPresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator.
