DescriptionA Spanish language poster, titled "EL NUEVO ORDEN . . . DEL EJE" [The New Order . . . The Axis], promoting inter-American solidarity during World War II. Done in shades of yellow, green, black, and red, the poster features a large grotesque graphic illustration of the profile of a heavyset male’s bald head. Drool is dripping from the mouth which has reddened lips and barred teeth. Hanging around the neck of the figure is a Nazi swastika military decoration suspended from a blue ribbon. The artist’s facsimile signature is incorporated into the left side of the artwork: “E. McKnight Kauffer.”

Printed in small text along the bottom of the poster: "Publicado por El Coordinador de Asuntos Interamericanos, Washington, E. U. A."
Label TextPresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator.
