DescriptionA Spanish language poster, titled "LIBRES" [free], promoting inter-American solidarity during World War II. The poster features the title in large blue letters at the center with Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms in various colors floating around it: “LIBERTAD DE CULTOS [Freedom of Worship] / LIBERTAD DE PALABRA [Freedom of Speech] / LIBRES DE MISERIA [Freedom from Want] / LIBRES DE TEMOR" [Freedom from Fear]. The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower left corner of the poster: "herbert bayer.”

Printed in small text along the bottom of the poster: "Publicado por El Coordinador de Asuntos Interamericanos, Washington, E. U. A."
Label TextPresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator. This poster is one in a series created by the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs depicting Franklin D. Roosevelt's Four Freedoms.
