DescriptionA Portuguese language poster promoting inter-American solidarity during World War II. The poster features a reproduction of the 1869 oil painting of Abraham Lincoln by artist George Peter Alexander Healy with Lincoln’s name printed in the upper left corner. The image is credited as: “REPRODUÇÃO DE UMA PINTURA A ÓLEO POR G. P. A. HEALY.”

Printed below the portrait is additional Portugese text that reads: “Êste retrato de Abraão Lincoln, décimo sexto Presidente dos Estados Unidos, que se encontra no Salão de Banquetes da Casa Branca em Washington, D. C., era o preferido de Robert Todd Lincoln, filho do Grande Emancipador."

Printed in small text in the lower right corner of the poster: "Publicado pelo Coordenador de Assuntos Interamericanos, Washington, E. U. A."
Label TextPresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator.
