The poster features a large color cartoon illustration of Adolf Hitler of Germany, attached to an open parachute, floating down towards the spines of a large potted cactus. On the ground next to the cactus are two figures – Uncle Sam and a Latin American man – both laughing uproariously at the sight above them and making the “V” (for victory) sign with their fingers. The artist’s facsimile signature is in the lower right corner: “ARIAS BERNAL.”

Small Spanish text printed in the bottom left corner of the poster reads: “Publicado por El Coordinador de Asuntos Interamericanos, Washington, E.U.A.”
Label TextPresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator.
