DescriptionA Spanish language poster promoting inter-American solidarity during World War II. The poster features a large image of three hands grasping a spiked metal pole to which is attached a flag made up of the images of 21 smaller flags of the United States and various Latin American countries. The pointed end of the flagpole is being driven down into the body of a ferocious snake.

Spanish text at the top and bottom of the poster reads: "UNÁMONOS CONTRA LA AGRESIÓN / Cartel que obtuvo el primer premio en un concurso sobre temas de la unidad de las Américas y en el que participaron artistas de todo el hemisferio."

Printed in small text in the lower right corner of the poster: "Publicado por el Coordinador de Asuntos Interamericanos / Wáshington, D. C.
Label TextPresident Roosevelt created the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs during World War II to counter Italian and German propaganda in Latin America and promote political, economic, and cultural ties with the United States. He appointed Nelson Rockefeller as the Coordinator. This prize-winning poster, which won first place in a competition based on themes of unity, was issued by the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs.
