DescriptionA Theodore Haviland Limoges teacup from a dinnerware set created for Franklin D. Roosevelt. The exterior of the octagonal-shaped teacup has a decorative gold frieze set on a graduated-blue background. The gold monogram "FDR" is located on the white interior of the cup.

On the underside of the teacup is the manufacturer's mark stamped in green: LIMOGES / THEODORE / HAVILAND / FRANCE. Below the maker's mark is an inscription printed in gold that reads: Au Président / Franklin Delano Roosevelt / au bon artisan de la Paix / Septembre 1938 / Les Limousins Reconnaissants [translation: To President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the good artisan of peace, September 1938, from the grateful people of Limousin].
Label TextThis piece is part of a Limoges dinnerware set (MO 1969.2a,b, MO 1971.8, MO 1972.17.1-10, and MO 1981.4.19.1-47) sent to Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939 by the Union Fédérale des Mutilés et Combattants du Limousin in France as an expression of gratitude for his persistent efforts in the maintenance of peace.
