DescriptionA color poster promoting wartime discretion. The upper half of the poster features a reproduction of a painting showing a U.S. Navy captain standing on the bridge of a ship which overlooks a deck below which is crowded with Army soldiers. Additional military ships are seen on the water in the background, along with a mountainous shoreline. The artist’s facsimile signature is at the bottom of the image: SCHLAIKJER 43. The poster’s message, found in the lower section, reads: “. . . and bless those back home who, knowing of our sailing, kept that knowledge to themselves” / ★ SILENCE MEANS SECURITY ★.
