DescriptionA painting of the last of the New England coasters plying between Boston, Massachusetts and Portland, Maine. It depicts a nighttime scene, with the moon peeking through the clouds and highlighting a single, unidentified sailing ship at sea with unfurled sails. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner: D. de Ribcowsky. Handwritten in ink on the reverse of the canvas is an inscription that reads: To our Foremost American Cityzen [sp.] / Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt, / From Artists And his Admires [sp.] And Friends / In California / A.D. 1932 / Sent by KVM.

The painting is framed in a 1½" gilt wood frame.
