Label TextOn September 29, 1942, President Roosevelt visited a New Orleans, Louisiana factory operated by Higgins Industries, the company that built most of the specialized landing craft used by America's military during World War II. Company founder and president Andrew Jackson Higgins later gave FDR this model of an LCM (Landing Craft, Mechanized) on October 6, 1943. It is on display in the MOBILIZING THE PEOPLE exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.Additional Details
