DescriptionA small, multicolored flag representing the Western Hemisphere. The flag is formed from six horizontal strips of silk fabric, each a different color, sewn together. From top to bottom the colors are: purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red.
The flag is attached to a black-painted wood staff with a gold-painted finial. Handwritten on a strip of white paper attached to the staff are the words "Western hemisphere." Also attached to the staff is an adhesive sticker with a typed number: D-40-2-b.
Label TextThis flag is one of two flags (see also MO 1941.11.3) relating to the Western Hemisphere sent to Franklin D. Roosevelt in July 1940 by the maker, Blanche M. L. Agnew of Hollywood, California.The flag is attached to a black-painted wood staff with a gold-painted finial.
