DescriptionA black top hat with a black felt hat band. The hat is covered in silk plush fabric edged with black grosgrain trim. The interior of the hat is lined with smooth white silk. The lower section of the interior near the opening has a brown leather sweatband stitched around the circumference. The retailer’s information is printed in black on the interior of the flat crown: J.PRESS / NEW HAVEN-CAMBRIDGE / PRINCETON-NEW YORK.
Label TextEleanor Roosevelt gave this hat to her friend, donor Joseph P. Lash, with the information that it had been worn by Franklin D. Roosevelt.
