DescriptionA remnant of fabric used for a dress worn by Eleanor Roosevelt. The off-white silk chiffon material has a goldenrod and thistle print in shades of Eleanor blue.
Label TextThis fabric remnant is from the material used to make a dress worn by Eleanor Roosevelt during the visit of the British monarchs, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, to Hyde Park in June 1939. Mrs. Roosevelt wore the dress for the June 11 church service she and President Roosevelt attended with the King and Queen.

The pattern, incorporating the Scottish thistle and the American goldenrod, was designed by Mrs. Roosevelt's niece and namesake (the daughter of her brother, Hall), Eleanor Roosevelt, and the fabric was made by Frank Associates. The fabric was used to make the dress created by Lily Loscher and sewn and fitted by Rose Moss.
