DescriptionA featherwork and paint picture featuring various American patriotic symbols. On a black background is the image of an eagle with outspread wings clutching arrows in its right talon and an olive branch in its left talon. A stars and stripes shield rests between the eagle’s legs, and the bird itself sits atop a partially furled flag on a flagpole.
Label TextThis patriotic picture, made using bird feathers, was sent to Franklin D. Roosevelt by Amon G. Carter Sr. (1879-1955), a Fort Worth, Texas newspaper publisher and philanthropist whose foundation later created the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth in 1961.
