DescriptionLarge flag representing the Vice President of the United States. At the center of a plain, white background is a variation of the Great Seal of the United States with the eagle in blue. Three metal grommets run down the left side of the flag.
The flag is mounted over a board and framed in a 1 5/8" whitewashed wood frame.
Label TextThis flag is the first ever flown by a Vice President of the United States as the emblem of his office. It was designed in March 1915 by then-Assistant Secretary of the Navy Franklin D. Roosevelt to be flown by vessels of the U.S. Pacific Fleet when visited by Vice President Thomas Riley Marshall on the occasion of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The flag used a variation of the Great Seal of the United States as the central image.The flag is mounted over a board and framed in a 1 5/8" whitewashed wood frame.
In January 1936, President Roosevelt, by Executive Order, prescribed an official design for the flag of the Vice President. The design used the Seal of the President of the United States as the central image.
