DescriptionA miniature color portrait of Catherine Lyman Delano, age 52. The left-facing head and shoulders profile portrait shows her wearing a blue dress with a partial black lace overlay.

The portrait is housed in a gilt wood frame with a brass hanging loop at the top.


Label TextCatherine Robbins (Lyman) Delano (1825-1896), FDR’s maternal grandmother, lived in China for several years with her husband Warren Delano II. This painting by an unknown artist was based on an 1877 photograph of Mrs. Delano.
