DescriptionA painting of the clipper ship, CHANNING. It depicts a side view of the three-masted sailing ship at full sail on open water. Two other sailing ships are visible in the distant background. The full title of the painting, which runs along the bottom, reads: In TROPIC SEAS CLIPPER SHIP CHANNING–OWNER WARREN:DELANO:ROOSEVELT PERIOD 1845. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower left corner: CAPT. A. AXEL, 1934.

The painting is on a flat wooden stretcher and unframed.
Label TextThe title of this painting refers to Franklin Roosevelt's grandfather, Warren Delano, who is named erroneously by the artist as Warren Delano Roosevelt, but was not a Roosevelt.
