DescriptionA brown herringbone tweed riding jacket. The single-breasted jacket has a notched lapel with a lapel hole, three leather-covered front buttons, two slanted flap pockets, an external breast pocket, single button cuffs, and a single rear vent. The interior of the jacket is lined with dark brown fabric. Sewn onto the lining, below the hanging loop, is the manufacturer's label: SADDLEBILT RIDING CLOTHES / EST. 1875 / KAUFFMAN SADDLERY CO. / NEW YORK.
Label TextEleanor Roosevelt kept and rode horses throughout her life. This jacket of hers, along with a pair of breeches (MO 1971.59b), formed one of the riding outfits she is seen wearing in photographs.Additional Details
