DescriptionA round pinback slogan button. The white button has red text that reads: WALLACE / AND / ROOSEVELT. The beginning letters of each word - W, A, and R - spell WAR when read vertically.
Label TextDuring the 1940 presidential campaign FDR’s critics charged that he (and his Vice President Henry Wallace) would drag the nation into war if reelected. A copy of this button is on display in the PREPARING FOR WAR, HOPING FOR PEACE exhibit in the Museum’s WORLD WAR II gallery.
