Jean CarluFrench, 1900 - 1997

Carlu had an international reputation as an illustrator and graphic designer when he came to the United States in 1940. He designed posters for the government and was active in the Free France movement. Carlu returned to France in 1953. He is widely recognized today for his contributions to poster design, book illustration, and typographical design.
