Artifact Collection: U.S. Navy

This series contains items related to the history of the United States Navy, reflecting Franklin D. Roosevelt's lifelong interest in this subject. The series primarily contains naval related prints and paintings as well as portraits of navy personalities collected by and presented to Roosevelt. This series also contains objects directly associated with the navy and its ships, including badges and buttons, clothing, medals and medallions, sheet music, materials used aboard ships, relics created from former naval vessels, and a small group of items related to the Eyes for the Navy program which Roosevelt oversaw as Assistant Secretary of the Navy during World War I.
