Physical DescriptionAn unused cover with a multi-colored World War II patriotic cachet designed, copyrighted, and published by Jacques Minkus, New York, NY, 1942. The illustrated, poster-like cachet features, in a blue rectangle, a large white "V" at the center of which is a flaming torch. On either side of the "V" are white outline drawings of the heads of various workers and military personnel. Yellow text along the bottom reads: United for VICTORY.
Historical NoteThis envelope is one in a group of twenty covers (MO 1982.34.13-32) with World War II patriotic cachets designed and published by Jacques Minkus. A promotor of philately, Jacques Minkus opened stamp counters in various department stores throughout the country. Not only did the counters sell stamps, they also carried cacheted covers and albums designed by Minkus, as well as stamp catalogues published by him.Additional Details
