Physical DescriptionA gouache watercolor painting of a waterfront scene in Southport, North Carolina titled, "Harbor Docks." It depicts a series of buildings and docks fronted by a road and backed by a river. Two of the buildings are built onto piers over the water and have several small fishing boats anchored next to them. An island is seen in the background. The painting is signed and dated by the artist in the lower right: Olin Dows 40.

The painting is matted, glazed, and framed in a 3/4" black wood frame with gilt inner trim.
Historical NoteAccording to a card attached to the painting's old backer, artist Olin Dows of Rhinebeck, NY submitted this watercolor for display during Art Week, November 25 - December 1, 1940.
