Physical DescriptionA handmade donkey pin from Franklin Roosevelt's campaign. The natural-colored donkey is made of braided corn husks. Black beads form the eyes. Natural-colored fabric has been used to create the ears and a blanket hanging over the back of the donkey. The blanket is edged with a red ink border and has "F.D.R" written in blue ink. A safety pin is attached on the reverse side.
Historical NoteThis pin is one of two donkey pins (MO 1997.38.1-2) sent to Eleanor Roosevelt on October 28, 1940 by the makers, Mary and Ruth Forehand (ages 12 and 13) of Carter's Creek, Tennessee.
