Physical DescriptionA color poster encouraging enlistment in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. The poster features a large illustration of a sinking Japanese aircraft carrier, the stern of which is on fire and is sticking upwards into the air while the bow is submerged in the water. Various Japanese aircrafts are seen partially submerged in the water in front of the aircraft carrier. Text above, on, and below the illustration states: “HIT ‘EM WHERE IT HURTS! / 33% OF JAPAN’S TONNAGE HAS BEEN SUNK. Of this 77% WAS SUNK BY SUBMARINES! [text points to a submarine periscope in the water] / JOIN THE Submarine Service.”
