Produced by the U.S. Government Printing Office for the Division of Information, Office For Emergency Management, poster no. 1942-O-455330.
Historical NoteCreated by Connecticut artist Glenn Grohe, this poster was designed to remind defense workers that loose talk might be overheard by enemy spies. However, a government survey concluded that many workers didn’t understand the poster’s message. Some associated the foreboding figure (which resembles the Darth Vader character from Star Wars) with their boss or foreman.
