Physical DescriptionA 1944 campaign stamp cover with an anti-Roosevelt cachet. The white envelope bears a violet U.S. 3¢ Win the War Issue stamp (Scott 905). On the left side of the envelope is a cachet consisting of bronze and maroon text that reads: With our forces success- / ful on all fronts without / the aid of Roosevelt, he / is touring battle fronts. / FOR WHAT? The text is bordered on the sides by silver starts and stripes. An additional two lines of purple text above the address reads: 8-3-'44--Reds cross Vistula. / Break last German barrier.
The envelope is addressed in typed lettering to: Mrs Gorden Hamm / 946 Woodward Ave. / Minnapolis / Minn. It is postmarked Portland, Oregon, August 3, 1944. Stamped and written on the reverse of the envelope is information regarding the cachet: This Cachet Designed / and Sponsored by / WILLIAM S. LINTO / 4920 N.E. 16th Ave / PORTLAND, 11, ORE. / Cachet No. 621-X / Covers Issued 12 / Cover No. 7. To the left of this is the stamped message: 2-line cachet, at right, printed on / 12 of this patriotic.
