Physical DescriptionA 1930 New York Giants baseball season admission pass in the form of a small, rectangular-shaped gold medal with a loop at the top.
On the obverse side of the pass are the figures of three enthralled men seated on a bleacher with various terms above them that read: 2 OUT / BASES FULL / 3 BALLS / 2 STRIKES. Text at the bottom of the pass reads: • GIANTS 1930 • / CHAS. A. STONEHAM PRES.
Etched onto the reverse side of the pass is the inscription: GOV. / FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT. / & PARTY. / 2. Also on the reverse, the maker's mark is stamped into the surface: LAMBERT BROS. / N.Y. / 14K.
Historical NoteFrom 1919 to 1931 (with the exception of 1928) the New York Giants issued special passes, mainly made of sterling silver, to season ticket holders and select dignitaries. The passes, manufactured by Lambert Bros. of New York, were designed in a variety of shapes and baseball motifs and included the pass holder's name on the reverse. This 1930 New York Giants gold pass was issued to New York State Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt. The image on the pass is taken from the ca. 1904 baseball illustration, "Two Strikes and the Bases Full," by artist Charles Dana Gibson.

Custodial History NoteDeposited at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was donated as a bequest of FDR to the Library in 1947.
